I am looking for the lyrics (and music) to John W. Peterson's Carol of Christmas. It was in a cantata by that name and is also a song. Our ladies group wants to sing that for Hanging of the Green. Thanks for help..DeeDee

Could this be the same song I am looking for?
I remember the melody of the tune, but I can't fully recall the lyrics.
Anyway, I have posted the melody (and part of the lyrics) at YouTube

Please send me the lyrics if you have it.
My email address is < [email protected] >
Thanks in anticipation.

The YouTube link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVspSf9Z-k0
says:

Please provide any 'missing links' or corrections to the lyrics of this tune called "Carol Of Christmas".
It is an obscure carol that was heard 30 years ago.
Time has faded my memory of the lyrics, and my web searches failed to yield any results.
The lyrics provided below are as best as I could remember.
Kindly help me to complete the lyrics of the carol, and please inform me of the composer if you have the information.
Thank you in anticipation.

Verse 1
Carol of Christmas heard long ago,
Sang by the angels to shepherds below,
Announcing good news of Jesus' birth,
Proclaiming goodwill and peace on Earth,
Verse 2
??? x xx ???,
??? x xx????
?x? xx? x?x ??x ? X zzz ZZ
Chorus
Music is the sound of Christmas,
Melodies are heard every where,
Children singing, Church bells ringing, Music in the air,
These are the sounds of Christmas
Verse3
Carol of Christmas sing it again,
?x? xx? x?x ?? the sweet, sweet Carol of Christmas.

Hey, this sounds like a familiar coral ......
The last line of Verse 3 goes something like
"Church bells are ringing, the whole world is singing the sweet, sweet Carol of Christmas. "

I don´t know if it is too late, but I sang this song in a Choir about 40 years ago, and the lyrics as I remember go like this:

Carol of Christmas heard long ago,
Sang by the angels to shepherds below,
Glorious announcment of Jesus' birth,
Happy pronouncement of peace on Earth,

Verse 2
Carol of Christmas, sing it again
Till there is truly good will tow'rd men
And it is ringing and all the world singing the sweet, sweet carol of Xmas

Chorus
Music is the sound of Christmas,
Melodies are heard every where,
Children singing, Church bells ringing, Music in the air,
This is the carol of Christmas

Verse3
Carol of Christmas sing it again,
Till there is truly good will tow'rd men
And it is ringing and all the world singing the sweet, sweet carol of Xmas

Dave Boyer recorded this song back in the 70-80's...always has been one of my favorites. Here is the youtube link of him singing it.

I wish there was a youtube of a live performance, but you can hear it here. I am trying to find a solo performance accompaniment trax...Do any of you know where I can get one without having to buy the cantata CD for over $50??
