Thank you!

new name written down in glory

There's a new name written down in Glory, and it's mine, oh yes it's mine. and the white robed angels tell the story a sinner has come home. There's a new name written down in glory and it's mine oh yes it's mine. With my sins forgiven I am bound for heaven, never more to roam.

That's all I remember.

Here it is. When I'm feeling down, I just grab my guitar and belt this one out at the top of my lungs :) Does the trick every time.

1.
I was once a sinner, but I came
Pardon to receive from my Lord
This was freely given and I found
That He always kept His word.

Chorus:
There's a new name written down in glory
And it's mine, oh yes, it's mine
And the white-robed angels sing the story
"A sinner has come home!"
There's a new name written down in glory
And it's mine, oh yes, it's mine
With my sins forgiven I am bound for Heaven
Never more to roam

2.
I was humbly kneeling at the cross
Fearing not but God's angry frown
When the heavens opened and I saw
That my name was written down!

Chorus

3.
In the Book 'tis written, "Saved by Grace,"
O the joy that came to my soul!
Now I am forgiven, and I know
By the blood I am made whole!

Chorus

God bless!

Wow Steve thank you for the whole version. My Sunday School teacher wants me to lead this hymn at the end of our class this Sunday. You've been very helpful!! :)

Which popular singing group popularize it? I have it on a cd but do not know who sing it. Sound like a quartet

Pick a quartet. Almost every southern gospel quartet in the world has sung this old song.
Do you know where to find the music for this song?

Not meaning to be picky, but line 2 of verse 2 should read, “Fearing naught but God’s angry frown.” It does change the meaning a bit.

"Not" VS "naught" is a "distinction without a difference"!
Get on with our bad self!
Srsly? try to make a contribution next time!

There is a significant difference between fearing not and fearing naught. The first says you are not afraid but God has an angry frown. The second is more hopeless: all you can look forward to is God's angry frown. Nothing (naught) else can engender fear because you are afraid of God's displeasure. That is what makes the rest of the song so joyful. Your name is written down and God's displeasure was taken by Jesus and you are free—saved by grace.
