I have come from the darkness to the light of the Lord
I have come from the darkness to the light of the Lord
I am searching for the words to a hymn that begins "I have come from the darkness to the light of the Lord, I have come from the night to the day." The melody is very familiar, so I was stunned to find that it did not exist in any of the hymn books I have used in the past 30 years.
I have come from the darkness to the light of the Lord
The song became widely known when sung by George Beverley Shea, but is also listed as in Baptist Hymnal 1991 (by M W Chaplin)
I have come from the darkness to the light of the Lord
I believe that the chorus goes (with probable mistakes): "I have come from the darkness to the light, To the light of redemption from sin, O my soul doth rejoice in His might, For my Saviour dwells within." I'm surprised that I can't find the lyrics on-line.
I have come from the darkness to the light of the Lord
I just found a George B. Shea cassette with it on. Here are the words
I Have Come From the Darkness to the Light
I have come from the darkness to the Light of the Lord,
I have come from the night to the day.
He has guided my footsteps in the truth of His Word,
By His love He has shown me the way.
Chorus:
I have come from the darkness to the Light,
To the light of redemption from sin.
O my soul will rejoice in His might,
For my Savior dwells within.
In the light of His presence all temptations depart,
And the shadows of doubt are cast aside.
With a radiance of sunshine He has entered my heart,
Where His Spirit of Love abides.
I have come from the darkness to the light of the Lord
It's played on occasion on Family Radio. It's a favorite song of mine. joe
I have come from the darkness to the light of the Lord
Thanks very much for the words, Mary Lou. God bless you. I am a soloist of oldtime revival songs, and this song reminds me of what'd happened to me by the grace of God more than 40 years ago. Charles. [email protected]

Great performance indeed. Do you know of any similar performances by Mr. Boggs?
