Please can someone help? I cant seem to remember much of this song. I was taught as an elementary school girl--age 7. Now, I want to teach my daughter the same song. Here is the begining line that I remember:
Christ is my rock, my refuge my stronghold....
Last line:
I set my house on a solid foundation, Christ is my rock, my hope and my _____-(salvation- I think).
Thanks

CHRIST IS MY ROCK
Christ is my rock, my refuge, my stronghold,
Firm as the tree's root that clutches the land.
He who has faith builds without worry, not like the man who builds upon sand.
I set my house on a solid foundation
Christ is my rock the root of my soul's recreation.
I know a man who loved to live "free",
He pitched his tent by the side of the sea.
It stood near the surf and was washed by the spray
'Till one day a wave came and washed it away.
I know a man who loved to live high.
He built his castle near up to the sky,
Through summer and spring it stood pretty well,
When winter winds whistled, it toppled and fell.
Christ is my rock, my refuge, my stronghold,
Firm as the tree's root that clutches the land.
He who has faith builds without worry, not like the man who builds upon sand.
I set my house on a solid foundation

I know a man, a cool one to know,
He built his house out of ice and of snow,
In chill isolation his night work was done,
But it melted away with the warm morning sun.
I know a man who built out of straw,
The flimsiest fellow that I ever saw,
One day a spark set it to flame,
And nothing was left to remember his name.
Christ is my rock, my refuge, my stronghold,
Firm as the tree's root that clutches the land.
He who has faith, builds without worry,
Not like the man who builds upon sand,
I set my house on a solid foundation,

Fantastic. Hymn
Christ is my rock my refuge my stronghold
This is a hymn sung by the Medical Mission sisters, and written by Sr. Marie Therese Winter. I also learned this at convent school. The hymns that the Medical Mission Sisters sang are sung to this day in many Parishes, especially in South Africa. You can get more of their particulars by searching for them on their website - Medical Mission Sisters.....

I learned the verse as
I know a man who loved to live high
He built his castle clear up to the sky
Through summer and spring it stood pretty well
When winter winds whistled it toppled and fell
I still remember that teacher fondly, the best teacher in the world to me at that time. Thank you Ms Joyce Our Lady of Good Counsel Primary School Dublin 12

Nothing compares to having implicit faith and confidence in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, this lovely song expressly proves it irrefutably. Bless your precious hearts, Medical Mission Sisters !

I've been singing this song since Lent began yesterday (infact probably the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday). It was my favorite song as a child and I've not sang it in many many years. I was desperate to get the words since it just sprung up in my heart - thanks to whoever posted this up.
You've blessed me greatly - God bless you too much!

Me too! I used to sing this in Lagos, Nigeria in the late 60s / early 70s. Glad to know it is still being sung - a little over some 45 years. Surely, Our God reigns!!
Christ is my rock my refuge my stronghold
This was one of the hymns sung at my wedding in Lagos, Nigeria. I personally chose it because of how much it ministered to me. I knew I couldn't build my home on anything else but Christ my rock and in Him I stand firm like the tree's root that clutches the ground. Beautifulhymn and it remains one of my favorite
