. . . But the crown he wore, the cross he bore, these were his own
hope someone can help me out with the words to this song. I heard today for the first time in many years. some of the words were: They borrowed a manger, a place to lay his head, . . . in a borrowed tomb. . . but the crown he wore, the cross he bore, these were his own.
Don't know the name and couldn't come up with the right thing on any search. I believe it was group of ladies that were singing, sounded similar to the Mckamey's. Thanks for your help.

. . . But the crown he wore, the cross he bore, these were his own
The Cross Was His Own
They borrowed a bed to lay His head
When Christ the Lord came down;
They borrowed the ass in the mountain pass
For Him to ride to town;
But the crown He wore and the cross He bore
were His own-The cross was His own.
He borrowed the bread
when the crowd He fed
On the grassy mountain side,
He borrowed the dish of broken fish
With which He satisfied;
But the crown He wore and the cross He bore
Were His own- The cross was His own.
He borrowed a ship in which to sit
To teach the multitude;
He borrowed a nest in which to rest,
He never had a home so crude;
But the crown He wore and the cross He bore
Were His own- The cross was His own
He borrowed a room on His way to the tomb,
The Passover lamb to eat;
They borrowed a cave for Him a grave;
They borrowed a winding sheet;
But the crown He wore and the cross He bore
Were His own - The cross was His own.
They borrowed a bed to lay His head
When Christ the Lord came down;
They borrowed the ass in the mountain pass
For Him to ride to town;
But the crown He wore and the cross He bore
were His own-The cross was His own.

I need to see if any one can help me to the lyrics to the old gospel some When Papa Prayed.
It goes like this:
When papa prayed, he prayed with love, the holy spirit came down from above. I think Holly Dunn may have done it also, but the old version i am not sure about who did it.

Thanks for the help, unfortunately "The Cross Was His Own is not the right song. Some of the words are similar but I've heard both and the're definitely not the same.

Verse 1
The Borrowed a Stable
For the little Child born
They borrowed the rags that were tattered and worn
They borrowed a bed to lay his little head on
But the Cross he bore
The crown he wore
These were his own
Verse 2
They borrowed the bread
and feed the multitude
the disiples were fed in a borrowed room
they borrowed a cave which was to be his grave
Chorus:
But the cross he bore, the crown he wore these were his own
Verse 3
He left the splendor of a kin on a throne
toall he gave himself, crucified alone
he owned not a thing, but everthin his own
but the cross he bore, the crown he wore those were his own.
