Does anybody know which hymn contains the line "when they lay my body in the cold earth". A much loved lady in our church is about to succumb to cancer and has mentioned the words in the context of a hymn.
Regards
William,
when they lay my body in the cold earth
when they lay my body in the cold earth
Name of the song is "Nothing Can Hold Me Here"
Some seek for wealth down here
Some look for fame
I look for Jesus- with Him I'll reign
I'm just a pilgrim here, soon I'll be gone
Nothing can hold me here, I'm headed home
CHORUS
I said nothing can hold me here, I'm headed home
Heavenly gates are near, it won't be long
Until I'm walking on streets of gold
Singing around God's throne
Nothing can hold me here, I'm headed home
Now, if I should die down here before that trumpet sounds
When they lay this body in the cold, cold ground
Now, you don't have to cry for me, don't sing me no sad songs
Nothing can hold me here, I'm headed home
I said, nothing can hold me here, I'm headed home
Heavenly gates are near, it won't be long
Until I'm walking the streets of gold
Singing around God's throne, I'm headed home
Nothing can hold me here, I'm headed home....
