Oh, hi there.

Oh, hi there.

It’s been a while since I wrote anything for this blog. As you can tell from one of my last posts that aren’t a book review, for the last nine years I’ve had my hands full taking care of a little girl.

I should explain the book reviews. A few years ago, a Christian publisher reached out to me and asked if I could review books for them. I ended up writing about 50 of them, which you can see below. I was happy to do it, especially since it gave me access to a lot of really great picture books for my daughter as she grew up.

Well, the book publisher stopped their program in 2019, which is when I stopped blogging. I had mixed feelings about seeing the program end; I loved having access to books to review, but I could see that these reviews basically took over the blog. And so I decided to go back and start to blog for real.

Which, as you can see, I never quite did. I started and stopped a lot of drafts, but my “day job” got in the way.

Fast forward to today. I got laid off from my “day job” last September. I won’t lie, it’s been a really, really challenging time for me. But after a few months of wallowing in depression and self-pity (yes, those things happen to us Christians too), I’m finally starting to understand something my mom tried to teach me 40 years ago. God’s grace is sufficient. As the hymn goes, “I don’t know about tomorrow”, but I’m reminded every day who holds my hand.

And so I’ll try my best to start this blog over again going back to where it started: my musings about life and faith and the hymn lyrics that inspired my musings. Ironically, I do have one last “book review” to write (which will be the next post), but after that I’ll try to go back to writing regular posts.
