Does anyone have the lyrics to an old song called Keeper of the door. A lady in our church used to sing it. She's gone now and I would love to find it again.
Thanks, Donna

Keeper Of The Door

When my name is called to enter heavens portals
If I could have one wish granted, this i know
I'd be happy just to be at home with Jesus
yes Id like to be the keeper of the door

If I could see the smile on every face that entered
shake the hands of all my friends I used to know
I'd be happy just to be at home with Jesus
oh I'd like to be the keeper of the door

there are many things to see when I reach heaven
like the gates of pearl and the streets as pure as gold,
after I've had a while to talk with Jesus
then I'd like to be the keeper of the door.

I was taught this old hymn by a good friend many years ago. Never seen the words in print. Thank you. Brings back some memories.

I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR YOU POSTING THESE LYRICS...I HEARD AN OLD SAINT SING THEM AT A BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO. HE HAS SINCE GONE TO BE WITH THE LORD. WHAT A TREAT TO SING THIS SONG AGAIN! THANKYOU.

my sister sang this all the time, just like an angel. I just saw the lyrics as I too have been searching for the words. My sister has passed and I long to hear her sing to me.

This made my day, my Father who has passed on now and myself when I was a very little girl use to sing this song in church. I ran across a 20 year old vhs tape of him singing it by himself and he didnt finish it, the spirit took over. For the life of me I couldnt remember the last verse so thank you so very much.
