here is the 2nd verse:
Now when you go to church on Sunday and they pass the plate around. Just dig right down in your pocket don't shake your head and frown don't turn the little 2 bits over and search for the pennies below. You'll find that the penny religion aint got no religion at all

Here's the way my parents sang the 2nd verse:

You'll find that your penny religion won't take you to the Golden Shore.
