My grandfather asked me to find a song for him that he remembered as a kid. He is 80+ years old, but the following words he seemed to remember well. I don't know if this sounds familiar to anyone, but if so, if you know the song, please let me know....I want to try to find this for him for Christmas.
....I'd like to go back and think my days over and hear my name spoken in prayer.
And hear my father say Lord save my dear children
It seemed like sweet heaven was there.
Thanks for your time/input
God Bless
Amanda

I'm thinking today of my Old Fashioned Home
With Father and Mother in Prayer
How Father Would pray
Lord Save my dear children
It seemed that sweet heaven was there
I'd like to go back and think my days over
and hear my name spoken in prayer
How my parents would pray
Lord save my dear children
It seemed that sweet heaven was there.
Such Singing and shouting we had in those days
It lifted us out of all care
How We'd praise our Saviour and call on His Name
It seemed that sweet Heaven was there.
With Father and Mother in Prayer
How Father Would pray
Lord Save my dear children
It seemed that sweet heaven was there
I'd like to go back and think my days over
and hear my name spoken in prayer
How my parents would pray
Lord save my dear children
It seemed that sweet heaven was there.
Such Singing and shouting we had in those days
It lifted us out of all care
How We'd praise our Saviour and call on His Name
It seemed that sweet Heaven was there.

While praying the Father that we might not roam
It seemed that sweet heaven was there

I must have been asked to sing this song a hundred times or more in a little old church on a mountain in Georgia. Most of the old folks are gone in that church now but the memories will never die. The lyrics posted by the Guest on 22 Feb are the correct and much loved words to the song.

My dad was an old time preacher from Ky. This was one his favorite songs. I can almost hear him singing it now, although he is in heaven rejoicing and singing with the heavenly crowd. I miss him so much and think of him often.
