My God and I, contains "through gates of splendor"

I've seen some posts of a version of My God and I that is nothing like the one we used to sing in church when I was young. I can't find the version we used on the Internet so... why not ask here Collective memory may recall what I cannot. I *am* certain the first stanza goes like this:

My God and I go in the fields together
We walk and talk, as good friends should and do.
He speaks to me, my soul is filled with music.
He tells me of a life unending too.
He speaks to me, my soul is filled with music.
He tells me of a life unending too.

A later stanza has the phrase "through gates of splendor into God's own presence" in the third/fifth lines.

Any thoughts?
