Please help me find the words the chorus goes "Pray, no matter How bad the chances

We used to sing a song in youth group about Peter
partial lyrics are as follows:
Ienjoy the old account of how Peter got to be Saint
Many times, he would fail and grumble out a complaint
But in his weakness he found a strength that can teach a lesson today
Like a rock, Peter stood, "cause Peter knew how to pray
Chorus;
so Pray, no matter how bad the chances
Pray whenever the foe advances
Pray whatever the circumstances
God has got to come through

There are at least two more verses
Anyone out there know this piece?

I have been looking for that song for a long time.
I had a record by Del Delker with that song.

I hope someone posts all the lyrics.

Okay, here it is. The song is called "The Ballad of Saint Peter"

The Ballad of St. Peter

I recall the old account of how Peter got to be saint.
Many times he would fail and grumble out a complaint,
But in his weakness he found a strength that can teach a lesson today:
Like a rock, there he stands 'cause Peter learned how to pray.

Chorus:
So pray no matter how the bad the chances,
Pray whenever the foe advances,
Pray whatever the circumstances;
God has got to come through.

He was fishing for fish one day but he caught him nary a one.
Cold and wet, empty net, but he had only begun.
So then the Master said "I perceive that your faith has dwindled again.
Leave your nets, follow me. I'll make you fishers of men."

Chorus:
But you must pray no matter how the bad the chances,
Pray whenever the foe advances,
Pray whatever the circumstances;
God has got to come through.

Once again he was in a boat when he saw the Master on shore
"On the waves I will walk!" With that he threw down the oar.
Well if the Lord hadn't helped him out with some sound advice he'd have drowned.
"Walk on top, never stop, and don't be lookin' around."

Chorus:

Pray whatever the circumstances;
God has got to come through.

Then again he was in the garden about the breaking of day.
Suddenly soldiers came to take the Master away.
But dear old Peter just grabbed a sword and then wildly started to flay;
But the Lord said "Look here, we're in this garden to pray."

Chorus:

Pray whatever the circumstances;
God has got to come through.

Then came one of his darkest hours when he the Master denied.
Of a maid was afraid. "I never knew him," he lied.
And then no sooner had this been said when old Peter started to cry,
"I'll be true Lord to you until the day that I die!"

Chorus:
I've learned to pray no matter how the bad the chances,
Pray whenever the foe advances,
Pray whatever the circumstances;
God has got to come through.

On the day that our Lord ascended He made a promise so true:
"I'll prepare over there a lovely mansion for you."
And then to Peter he waved goodbye and he said "Whatever you do,
Don't forget how to pray, for prayer will carry you through.

Chorus:

Pray whatever the circumstances;
God has got to come through.

Peter took the responsibility for proclaiming God's word,
Up and down through the land St. Peter's voice could be heard.
And though they took his life, they can't take his voice - it keeps ringing today.
Hear him call, one and all, it's time we learned how to pray.

I was singing this song, just now and wishing I had the lyrics in front of me. I have them in a book at home, but I'm at work. Sure enough.... Google to the rescue! It is a great song, and fun to see that this post started back in 2009!!

The Heritage Singers released that song in the early to mid '70's. One of my best friends loved the song and related to me how he himself felt like Simon Peter on more than one occasion. Here's hoping you can find a recording, You Tube video, or what have you--it'll do you a world of good!

So glad this was here for me to find, this helped me thru my teenage years and still prayers come thru for me today, praise his holy name
