Hi I am new to this site.. I know the song that you are looking for well.. There was an older gentleman in my home Church of Pilgrims FWB in Erwin, TN who sang it for years and I use to play the mandolin on it for him.. We always knew the song as "Bright April Morning" and I have no knowledge of the tune being in print anywhere nor of it being recorded by anyone commercially.
I have the lyrics and I have a Church recording of the song being sang. It is in electronic WMA format on my computer. If you like I can email it to you..

Bright April Morning is not a very well known song.. I have heard a few "stand-up" Church singers around here in the mountains of East Tennessee sing it and that is it.. I am not saying the song has never been printed or recorded commercially but if it has I have never heard of it..

Some refer to it as "One Day On A Bright April Morning" "Bright April Morning" and "From A Mansion To A Hill"

I remember that my uncle had a record of this song in the late 1960's that he played on an old 1948 Philco combination radio/phonograph. I don't know who the artist was, but it seems like the lead vocalist was female.
I would certainly love to have a copy of it!

The song you are looking for is called "a cross on a lonely dark hill". The Sego brothers and Naomi recorded it on the album, "He'll walk by your side". Very hard to find.
